"When we learned that the PSC was putting on an anti-Israel demonstration as part of 'Israel Apartheid Week,' we knew we had to do something," Goldman

So every year the group I was in at UT, Palestine Solidarity Committee, conducts a protest at Texas Hillel and TFI's joint venture, Israeli Block Party. The Block party is supposed to celebrate Israeli culture but is imbued with military themes, and a celebration of a false Israel, one without a Palestinian neighbor. In stead of facing Israeli wrongs, or saying hey, we have a great culture, and there are people in our DEMOCRACY that both embrace and DO NOT EMBRACE the current attrocities we are inflicting on the Palestinian people, they lie. They market false history (they have a fucking magazine written by AIPAC that is PURE propaganda. I wish I kept it, but I left it in the PSC office).
Eveyr year we get heat for protesting the block party. Every year without fail. But we take it, because whether we are protesting at UT or in Tel Aviv, it's the same issues, and they still need to be uncovered and brought to light. I am proud of my group and the people in it for being willing to openly tell the truth despite this kind of idiotic journalism (if it can be called that). Our protest was quiet (as stated in the article) it was well researched, everything was documented by fair non-biased or even Israeli NGO groups, and we went OUT OF OUR WAY to be respectful and non confrontational even though we had people in our faces mocking us and going so far as to say horrible things about us, in front of their young children, making sure of course that we were in ear shot.

I have a lot of respect for Israeli's that go beyond the apartheid wall. That join hands with Palestinians and I have a lot of respect for the idea of Israel. I have no tolerance or respect at all for those that close their minds to everything TRUTH and wash themselves in lies so that they can feel better about killing others, taking their land their livelihood and forcing them into squalor and then condemning them for each and every effort, peaceful or otherwise, that they make in order to live their lives as PALESTINIAN people.
I have NO respect for people, like the one who wrote this article, who site people like NONIE DARWISH, as fair and fucking balanced.

My heart hurts for those whose eyes are closed to reality.

Once I had the pleasure of hearing a lady speak who was Israeli and was very much pro-israeli, and by virtue of that was pro-palestinian not only because she realized the huge amounts of human rights abuses going on, but because she realized that in order to have any kind of an Israeli state, there must be a two state solution, and Israel's current attitude does NOT support a two state solution. Example? Settlements. I've spoken enough about settlements, so I won't get into it now (remember the video I posted of the Israeli women taunting a palestinian woman and locking her into her home while an Israeli soldier stood by watching? Or the video of the Israeli children beating that man to death? Anna Baltzar does a great job of explaining the situation if you need a better look. I always recommend her as an introduction to the conflict. http://www.annainthemiddleeast.com/)

So I read this article, was wracked by anger, and frustration, and then held my breath and counted to three trying to remember all my family back home and that while I might get this sort of thing every once and awhile, they have to deal with these brainwashed self centered careless jerks every single day .

PSC at UT is an amazing organization because it is not religiously affiliated, racially affiliated, or even affiliated to a single political idea. Instead the organization stands in solidarity with the Palestinian people suffering under the occupation and seeks to educate WITH FACTS, TRUTH, COMPASSION, UNDERSTANDING, and most importantly AN OPEN MIND.

TFI and Hillel? I can't say the same for them.

I would actually like to share this blog with you guys, and the article about the released prisoners. http://www.israel-palestine.net/ This website was started by a PSCer and is maintained mostly by PSC members or former PSC members.
