Guess why I'm writing right now!!! I have two papers due Wed. Yes, ladies and gents, I am a chronic procrastinator when it comes to papers, and you know what, it works for me.
I got an 85 on my unbelief exam. Bah humbug. It was an essay test. I did great on the first essay, but completely screwed up the second essay about why Jefferson was an important proponent of the constitutions secularism. Doesn't anyone ever wonder how a secular constitution come out of an incredibly religious society? I hadn't even thought about that till this class. it's such a fascinating class.
Today we learned about free masonry's role in U.S. atheism/organized secularism, which is nonexistant partly because of them.

weird thing though, when I went to go get my test, I thought i failed because when my professor handed it to me he goes "shereen, come talk to me"
he's an AWESOME guy, and I think he just wants to talk to me about a comment I made in class today about John Mill and Percy Shelley (one of my favorite poets) both claiming their lives are free of the burden of religion. A burden of dealing with a sea of contradictions.
Personally, I believe those contradictions are not a function of God or spirituality because it is inherent something unproven or unprovable cannot have contradictions because you can make things up till kingdom comes, but religion is sure riddled with them.
That's why I've, as Hobbes would say, "removed the wool" from over my eyes, and adhere to a spiritual rather than ritualistic and social religion.

Actually, the reason I added the lyrics I did was for two reasons (well three, but the third is because it's stuck in my head, and that doesn't count)
1) Religion (not spirituality) truly does destroy everything it touches eventually. On both an individual and societal level. I HONESTLY believe one of the reasons America as an institution has always done well is because it's secular to the core, to it's very founding, and one of the reasons we've tottered recently is because fucking bush is an evangelical moron/puppet, as well as an all around idiot.
2) I'm feeling particularly destructive myself this afternoon,but we won't go into that. Let me counter balance that with saying I despise the rain and dark, yet I'm still in a fairly good mood!
